Has a self storage option for everyone Storage for your home, small business, we’re here for you!
To ensure your items are well-protected during storage, pack your boxes full. Boxes that are only partially filled or bulging are more likely to collapse or tip over. When stacking boxes, place heavier ones at the bottom and lighter, more fragile items—such as glassware, plates, and keepsakes—on top to avoid crushing them.
When loading your storage unit, place larger, heavier items that you won’t need access to often toward the back. Keep more frequently needed items toward the front for easy access. Create a clear pathway to the back of the unit so you can reach everything without needing to climb over boxes.
A box that is too heavy to lift can result in injury or damage to the contents. Ideally, a fully packed box should weigh no more than 30 pounds. Here are some tips to help you pack your boxes safely: Group Similar Items Together Pack items of similar weight and size in the same box. For example, books are heavy and should be packed in small, sturdy boxes – avoid overloading. Tape the boxes securely to ensure they stay closed. Use High-Quality Tape Use strong, water-resistant moving tape to seal your boxes. Be sure to tape both the top

Consider using specialty boxes for delicate items. Dish packs and glass kits come with dividers or foam pockets to protect fragile items. Wardrobe boxes with hanging bars allow you to store clothing directly on hangers, ideal for items like coats, dresses, or curtains.
Certain items require extra care when packing for storage. Here are some helpful tips for some of the most commonly stored items
Make sure refrigerators and freezers are completely dry before storage, and leave the doors slightly ajar to prevent odors. You can store boxes inside larger appliances, such as stoves or refrigerators, to save space.
To prevent rust, wipe metal surfaces with a rag that has a few drops of machine oil.
Pack books flat to protect the spines and avoid placing boxes directly on concrete floors. Use pallets or skids to prevent moisture from seeping into the boxes. For added protection, fill any empty spaces in boxes with packing materials, like newspaper.
Store curtains, drapes, and clothing items like coats on hangers to prevent wrinkling. If hanging cartons aren't available, fold these items and store them in dressers or cedar chests. Be sure to clean everything before storing to avoid stains or pests.
Wrap each piece of glassware individually and place a layer of padding at the top and bottom of the box for extra protection. Fill any remaining gaps with packing paper to prevent shifting during transport. Stack these boxes at the top to avoid crushing them.
Place a protective mat or plastic sheet on the floor and stand items like sofas and mattresses on end. Disassemble beds and tables when possible, and wrap legs in paper or linens. Stack chairs seat-to-seat or upside down on tables to save space. Avoid using plastic sheets, as they can trap moisture, leading to mold and mildew.
Whenever possible, use the original packaging for delicate ornaments to ensure they're stored safely.
Wrap large lamps in padding, and pack smaller lamps in padded boxes. Keep lampshades separate, and use non-printed paper to avoid ink transfer to the fabric.
